The owners of this rustic North Shore kitchen wanted to update with new cabinetry without losing its character. Our solution was incorporating transitional style cabinetry with clean lines and a subdued color palette to blend easily into the existing space.
Combining Old & New
The perimeter cabinetry is gray stained willow wood creating a natural flow with the exposed ceiling beams. Our clients love their antique collections. Their turn of the century French cookware on display is complemented by the copper faux finished range hood made in our Evanston shop.
Adding Modern Conveniences For Today’s Lifestyle
The gray painted kitchen island with dual faucets and dishwashers accommodates 2 cooks and is topped with a lovely marbled quartzite.
Keeping Old World Charm
The lighted display cabinet with metal mesh panels echo the grillwork of the windows adding to the cohesive look of the space and maintaining its character. The cabinetry & countertop colors blend perfectly with the fireplaces on either end of the kitchen masking the fact that they were built in different decades.
Handcrafted Dining Table
The carefully constructed dining table, made in our Evanston cabinet shop, is crafted of maple with a natural stain- a perfect match to the new chairs. The round configuration is perfect for daily use and when fully extended provides seating for a large group.
The elegant simplicity of the new dining table is a welcome replacement for the dark, style specific table & chairs.
We loved working with our clients, using our design and crafting skills to make them happy & satisfying their wish for an updated kitchen with modern conveniences but retaining its old world charm.
